Buletin Ekonomi Wilayah dan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (BEWPB) (Bulletin of Regional Economics and Sustainable Development) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the intersection of regional science, spatial economics, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development strategies. Positioned as a premier scholarly forum for sub-national economic transformation and ecological resilience, the bulletin serves regional economists, urban and spatial planners, sustainability scientists, public policy analysts, and development practitioners worldwide. BEWPB prioritizes high-impact empirical research, spatial econometric modeling, regional input-output analyses, ecological footprint evaluations, and in-depth case studies on balanced territorial development. By synthesizing foundational theories of regional economic growth with the imperatives of environmental sustainability and social equity, the bulletin fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how spatial planning, green fiscal policies, and localized innovation can reduce territorial disparities while preserving ecological carrying capacity for future generations.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to advance the study of spatial economics and sustainable territorial development, the bulletin welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, spatial econometric studies, and applied policy evaluations within the following thematic areas:
  • Regional & Spatial Economic Dynamics: Spatial econometrics, economic agglomeration and industrial clusters, inter-regional trade and income disparity, Input-Output (I-O) and Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modeling, and regional competitiveness.
  • Sustainable Development & Green Regional Planning: Localization and monitoring of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), green infrastructure financing, low-carbon regional transitions, circular economy implementation at the sub-national level, and eco-industrial parks.
  • Urban-Rural Linkages & Spatial Governance: Sustainable urbanization, smart and resilient cities, eco-village initiatives, spatial land-use optimization, agrarian and maritime territorial integration, and sustainable regional transportation and logistics networks.
  • Environmental Economics & Regional Climate Resilience: Regional climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, economic valuation of local ecosystem services, natural resource and watershed governance, disaster risk reduction economics, and regional green fiscal instruments (e.g., ecological fiscal transfers).
  • Socio-Economic Equity & Inclusive Territorial Growth: Multidimensional poverty alleviation, regional labor market dynamics and migration, human capital and demographic transitions, fiscal decentralization for sustainable welfare, and indigenous/community-based spatial management.
Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of regional economics and sustainability research, BEWPB is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on ecological fiscal transfers, climate-resilient urban-rural corridors, or post-disaster regional economic recovery may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
BEWPB enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and empirical validity across regional science, economics, and sustainability studies.
  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (spatial econometric rigor, environmental valuation accuracy, qualitative policy analysis depth, or conceptual logic), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the bulletin's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are established academic researchers, senior regional economists, or sustainable development specialists in the relevant domain.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, methodological clarity, and the potential for tangible impact on regional economic policies and sustainable development practices.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Buletin Ekonomi Wilayah dan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (BEWPB) is to advance economic, spatial, and sustainability scholarship by publishing rigorous, evidence-based research that harmonizes territorial economic growth with ecological preservation and social inclusion. Grounded in the philosophy that long-term national prosperity depends on resilient, equitable, and environmentally conscious regions, the bulletin aims to democratize regional development research by providing an unrestricted platform for global academic, governmental, and civic dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous quantitative, qualitative, and spatial methodologies, BEWPB seeks to empower regional policymakers, inspire spatial planners, and shape inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable territorial development paradigms worldwide.
