Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to advance the study of village administration and local governmental systems, the bulletin welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, comparative local government studies, and applied administrative evaluations within the following thematic areas:

Village Administration & Grassroots Bureaucracy: Institutional governance of village governments (Pemerintah Desa), capacity building of village apparatus (Perangkat Desa), village-level regulatory formulation (Peraturan Desa), archive and population administration, and the role of Village Consultative Bodies (Badan Permusyawaratan Desa/BPD).

Local Government, Decentralization & Intergovernmental Relations: Sub-national autonomy, administrative coordination between municipal/regency governments (Pemerintah Kabupaten/Kota), sub-districts (Kecamatan), and villages, as well as asymmetric decentralization and borderland local governance.

Village Public Finance & Local Asset Management: Planning, execution, and accountability of Village Funds (Dana Desa) and Village Fund Allocations (ADD), village budgeting (APBDes), governance of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and optimization of village-owned assets (aset desa).

Frontline Public Services & Digital Village Transformation: Innovations in basic service delivery at the village and sub-district levels, implementation of smart village ecosystems (Desa Digital), e-governance for rural administration, and inclusive access to administrative services for rural citizens.

Participatory Governance, Customary Institutions & Rural Democracy: Deliberative democracy in village development planning (Musrenbangdes), local elections (Pilkades) and grassroots political dynamics, integration of customary and indigenous governance (Desa Adat), and community empowerment in local oversight.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of village administration and local government research, BADPL is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on smart village administrative reforms, accountability in village fiscal transfers, or the integration of customary law in local governance may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.
